Once and elite athlete myself, I know how badly as a teenager, you can want and think about a sports scholarship, going to the Olympics, and becoming a superstar.

I also know the pressure to keep going and live up to everyone’s expectations. It is so extremely hard ti do when you are in such vital years at school. If my parents knew then, what I know now, I probably would have had things a little easier.

Don’t get me wrong, my parents gave me everything they could, and they were my biggest fans. They support me through all of my injuries (none of them ever just minor), and i cost them thousands upon thousands of dollars in medical expenses, boarding school fees, travel and sports expenses, and the list goes on.

If my parents knew a bit more about the scholarship programs, and when to begin with marketing and branding, things may have been a lot different, and they could have saved thousands. Mind you my grades could maybe could have been a lot better also.

Now we have the wonderful world of digital, and things are seriously ramped up, with colleges all over the world waiting for your elite athlete to enter and blow them away.

Give them the opportunity to maximise their presence and be known, prepare them early, increase their exposure, create routine and balance. Give them the chance to shine and achieve their dreams.
