They Won’t Find You
Looking at the list above, you can see there are plenty of different types of scholarships. This is not an extended list either. There are hundreds of them. They won’t find you though. You need to search and research extensively. I can give you all the pointers in the world, but it is up to you to execute them. You want your athlete to be able to focus on their sport and education. This exercise is one you can do, or even pay someone else to do. The important thing is to apply early and apply often. Set yourself a goal amount of scholarships you will search each day. Sit down and discuss them with your athlete and from there, you can begin applying for those that resonate with your student athlete. To achieve a free ride through college, you will need to apply for as many scholarships as possible.
Knowing where to find these scholarships now, will help you through future years also. Many scholarships are only for a 12 month period. To continue, you will need to re-apply each year. You can also search new ones each year that your athlete completes. They will have more experience, extra skills, and potentially higher grade point averages. These can help your athlete go for those scholarships they may not have qualified for previously. In saying this, you will need to keep a close eye on deadlines throughout each year, to ensure your athlete doesn’t miss out. Now you have the A-Z of sports scholarship types, let’s look at which types of sporting programs offer scholarships.
Sporting Programs That Offer Sports Scholarships
It is fast becoming common knowledge that there are limited sporting programs that offer a full-ride scholarship. That is, considering how many scholarships are out there. There are thousands. Those programs that do offer full-ride scholarships, are typically the division 1 sports. Sports that generally offer a full-ride scholarship include football, basketball, womens volleyball, tennis and gymnastics. Those scholarships that are offered as partial scholarships, are nothing to be sneezed at. A partial scholarship paired with other scholarships we find, can get you that free ride. If your athlete impresses enough on a partial scholarship, they may still be offered a full ride. When your athlete shows talent and promise, companies will be more than happy to take them all the way through. Apply early and apply often, and your athlete will achieve those scholarships, and earn themselves a lifetime of happiness, rather than debt.
It’s important that you are always reassuring your athlete. Especially if their sport doesn’t offer a full scholarship. Do not let them feel discouraged at any time. There are thousands of scholarships left on the table every year, we will make sure your athlete knows about every one of them. We will find those that are a perfect fit for your athlete, and they will achieve success. Following is a small list of sporting programs that offer scholarships. Again, this list is only tiny compared to whats really out there.
- All types of horse sports
- Indoor and field hockey
- All football codes
- Cross country
- Track and field
